Literature Reviews and Research

TUMI Genomics is committed to bringing the most advanced, rigorous applied science to the cannabis industry. Through partnerships with cultivators and universities, we continually research and investigate critical topics to help cannabis cultivators mitigate plant disease. TUMI Genomics strives to expand the industry's understanding of cannabis plant health and pathogen threats. We believe in open information sharing, to benefit the entire industry.

HLVd Levels and the Distribution in Cannabis Plant Tissue

A research study

In this study we examined the variability of Hop latent viroid load throughout infected cannabis plants and determined the tissue type that most reliably predicts infection. This research helps cultivators submit samples with the highest chance of detecting a true infection.

Tool Sterilization to Prevent Viroid Transmission

A comprehensive literature review

Hop Latent Viroid is transmitted mechanically when tools are in contact with open wounds of infected plants. Professional growers are usually not aware of the high infectiousness rate of viroids, and the devastating effects it can have on host plants, reducing yields to up to 70%.

The scientific team at TUMI Genomics investigates the best sterilization solutions to keep your tools clear of viroids. We reviewed 10 papers with over 50 experiments to determine the most effective methods of tool and equipment sterilization to prevent the transmission of Hop Latent Viroid in cannabis.
